1918 - Demise and new beginning

World War I was the fundamental catastrophe of the 20th century, where technical warfare, weapons of mass destruction, but also nationalism and racial fanaticism came to a first climax. Many musicians and composers were directly affacted by the war, they had to serve as soldiers, like Fritz Kreisler or Hans Gál, were wounded or killed.
